A fanlisting (FL) is a non-profit, non-commercial online listing of all fans of a certain subject, mostly for entertainment purposes. In this case, this site is an FL for the television set (TV) as an object and postmodern entertainment icon.

Why bother with a fanlisting? For website owners, a fanlisting serves the same function as any other listing -- more exposure for your site, since it gives you more backlinks, possibly improving your pagerank. For non-website owners, it's a fun way to immortalize your interests online. :) In other words, it's just an innovative way to let everyone know that you like a particular subject or person; it's like a proclamation badge of your interests.

Simply, because I love TV's. I like them as objects, since they're such a sleek piece of furniture. Besides, my dad practically collects them, because we have about four at home. More importantly though, they reveal so much about the postmodern condition in our culture. For more on this philosophy, proceed here.

This FL was adopted from the incredibly prolific Kryz! Shannon was the owner before her. Current layout features a royalty-free image by photographer/artist Andrzej Burak, downloaded for free from Getty Images (also the source of the other images used in the codes and blockquote background). I basically just colorized the image using Adobe Photoshop 5.5 (it's ancient, I know!). Some fonts were retrieved from DaFont, and a lot of the CSS help were all because of the tutorials from from Listamatic and The Free CSS Templates. The entire listing runs thanks to a nifty little script called Enthusiast.
